United Premier Soccer  League

UPSL

Founded in 2011, the United Premier Soccer League now stands as the largest and most competitive pro-development league in North America.  The league has nearly 400 clubs competing nationwide.


The league occupies the 4th tier of the US Soccer pyramid, just below the three professional tiers.  With a participant average age of 22.5 years, the UPSL fills and brings structure to a large gap that exists between the youth game and professional game, serving aspiring players and coaches from within the AFC Lightning membership (current and alum) as well as the South Metro community at large. 


The mission of the UPSL is to provide a strong and consistent platform which provides opportunity and projects from the grassroots of the game advancing to the highest levels.  UPSL clubs are eligible to compete in the US Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the league's affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF).

  • When are tryouts?

    Tryouts take place on:

    • January 19 (2:00-4:00PM) - Starrs Mill HS
    • February 2 (2:00-4:00PM) - PAC
    • February 23 (2:00-4:00PM) - McCurry Park South

    While attendance is encouraged on all dates, players are especially encouraged to attend the earliest date possible to maximize their chances of selection. REGISTER HERE

  • How do I register for tryouts?

  • Who is eligible for the 2025 seasonal year?

    Male soccer players whose birth date falls between 2009 and 1994 are eligble.


  • In what confernce and division will your team compete?

    The AFC Lightning UPSL team will play in the Georgia Conference in Division 1.

  • When and where are the training sessions?

    Trainings will take place in the late evenings at McCuury Park South starting early March 2025.

  • When does the season begin?

    The season begins approximately the end of March and runs through mid June with a minimum of 10 games.  Divisional playoffs begin mid-June.
