Forero joined AFC Lightning as a Staff Coach in 2002 and has coached both boys and girls in various age groups.
Prior to joining AFC, he served as the Commissioner and Division Director for the Middle Georgia Soccer Association (MGSA) Recreational Program in Macon, GA.
Forero played his youth soccer in New York City where he was selected as a Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League All-Star and played in the Helsinki Cup (Helsinki, Finland) and Gothia Cup (Gothenburg, Sweden). Forero was also a New York City High School All-Star, and attended Ulster County Community College in Kingston, NY. While at Ulster County Community, his team played in two NJCAA national championships.
Forero holds a USSF National C-License and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He has been a USSF certified referee for over 25 years.
Forero graduated from Virginia Tech with a Master’s of Engineering Administration degree and holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Pratt Institute. He works for BAE Systems as a Senior Proposal Manager.
Forero resides in Fayetteville and has been married for 23 years to Sandy Forero. Forero and his wife have three children, Brian (19), Angie (18), and Danny (16); as well as a friendly Golden Retriever named Cruyff.
