Muccillo has worked at AFC Lightning since 1992 and currently serves as the club’s Assistant Director of Coaching.
Earlier in his career at AFC, Muccillo served as the AFC Boys’ Director. During this time, Muccillo was vital to many State Championships including, most recently, his AFC Lightning ‘87 team that won State Cup and made it all the way to a Region III Final in 2005. This team repeated as Champions in 2006 and played in the Region III Championships in Little Rock, Ark.
Muccillo also coached the now defunct Atlanta Silverbacks PDL team for two seasons in 2007 and 2008. The team had a 19 - 8 - 5 record with Steve in charge.
To a great extent his success lies in his abilities to develop and prepare players for the next level, be it college or the professional ranks. Over the years, Muccillo has also developed strong relationships with college coaches across the nation. Muccillo continues to be a major driving force in the growth and development of this club as well as its players.
Muccillo grew up in the Atlanta area and attended Forest Park High School in Clayton County. Muccillo attended Georgia State University, where the Panthers won 2 TAAC championships in 1986 and 1987.
Muccillo graduated with a BA majoring in Computer Information Systems. Following college, Steve played professionally in the USISL, NPSL, A-league and EISL. Muccillo holds the USSF National ‘A’ license and a NSCAA Premier Diploma.
